Backcountry Oatmeal

Recipe brought to you by our friends C.K and C.O who hiked the Nootka Trail with us!

Ingredients for one serving

  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup quick or instant oats
  • 2 tablespoon whole milk powder or coconut milk powder (available in bulk or asian aisle)
  • 1 to 3 teaspoons of sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • optional: teaspoon of your seed of choice (chia, flax, hemp)
  • Add desired amount of Hot water and cover for 5 mins

Apple cinnamon: chopped dried apples, 1tsp cinnamon, chopped walnuts, 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Apricot ginger: Chopped apricots, slivered almonds, 1T+ chopped candied ginger and 1/2 t ginger powder

Mocha: 1T cocoa powder, 1.5t coffee powder, toasted sunflower seeds, chocolate chips

Peanut butter banana: crumbled banana chips, 1-2T peanut butter powder, chopped peanuts

Mango pina colada: chopped dried pineapple and mango, coconut flakes, slivered almonds

Peaches & cream: Dried peaches, candied pecans or macadamias, a bit of extra cinnamon (~1/4 t total)
